HBO Pressure Chamber Centre
The pressure chamber centre is operated by the Department of Anesthesiology and is equipped with a chamber for 8 patients and a further chamber for intensive care and ventilator-dependent patients.
The therapeutic principle of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) in the pressure chamber centre is based on an increased supply of oxygen from the blood vessels. Thus, the patient is administered pure oxygen by overpressure in the form of a 3- to 4- times the level of normal air pressure.
The therapy is applied in severe crush injuries with circulatory disorders, for poorly healing wounds or bone infections, amongst others.
