We offer training courses for diving and hyperbaric medicine qualifications for doctors according to the current training procedure of the Society of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (GTÜM eV, Germany) and the Austrian Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (ÖGTH) and consequently in accordance with the training standards for diplomas of the 'Joint Medical Subcommittee' of the ECHM (European Committee for Hyperbaric Medicine) and EDTC (European Diving Technology Committee) from 1998.

The GTÜM Course I provides the theoretical basis for the Medical Examiner of Divers diploma, which qualifies the competence to perform independent and professional diving medical examinations.

The GTÜM course IIa builds on the GTÜM Course I and conveys comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in diving medicine up to the treatment of diving accidents. It provides the basis for the Diving Medicine Physician diploma .

The GTÜM Course II b represents the final stage of GTÜM-training courses and provides extensive knowledge of clinical hyperbaric medicine above and beyond pure diving medicine. The course is the basis and prerequisite for the Hyperbaric Medicine Physician diploma.

 GTÜM Course I "Diving Fittnes Examinations"

This course is organized in close co-operation between the BG Trauma Clinic Murnau and its pressure chamber center (Medical Director: Senior Physician Dr. Holger Schöppenthau) and the University Hospital of Innsbruck with its diving accident clinic and diving medical research group (responsible senior physician: Dr. Frank Hartig) from the joint facility for internal emergency and intensive care medicine (Head: Prof. Dr. Michael Joannidis).

Target group:

Physicians who wish to be trained as diving doctor, wish to carry out specialized diving fitness examinations or simply have an interest in diving medicine. 

Content:
Course I constitutes the basic medical diving training for aspiring dive doctors following the training procedure of the Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (GTÜM eV, Germany) and the Austrian Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (ÖGTH). Main topics are physiology and pathology in diving and at overpressure exposure , diving technology and safety, diving accidents and in particular the teaching of theoretical and practical knowledge for a qualified assessment of diving fitness for leisure, sports and professional divers and compressed air workers. Course I is a prerequisite for the "diving fitness investigations" diploma in accordance with GTÜM eV / ÖGTH and the 'Medical Examiner of Divers' diploma from the European Diving and Technology Committee (EDTC) and from the European Committee for Hyperbaric Medicine (ECHM).

 GTÜM Course IIa "dive doctor"

Physicians who wish to be trained as dive doctor or who have a deep interest in diving medicine.

Prerequisites:
Completed Course I in accordance with GTÜM or ÖGTH or similar training with respective knowledge in diving medicine, valid diving fitness for practical course components in the swimming pool, a valid G31 for participation in the pressure chamber.

Content:
Course IIa represents the diving medical supplementary training for aspiring dive doctors according to the further training procedures of the Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (GTÜM eV, Germany) and the Austrian Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (ÖGTH). Much deeper and further theoretical and practical knowledge in diving and hyperbaric medicine are taught here, building on the fundamentals from the completion of the Course I. Another important focus is on diving accident treatment and pressure chamber therapy. Course IIa is a prerequisite for the GTÜM eV / ÖGTH "dive doctor" diploma.

 GTÜM Course IIb "hyperbaric physician" (Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine)

Target Groups:

Physicians, especially dive doctors and aspiring HBO physicians

Training objective:

"Hyperbaric physician" Diploma in accordance with GTÜM eV / "Hyperbaric Medicine Physician" in accordance with EDTC / ECHM, specialist nurses intensive care / HBO after consultation

Prerequisites:
Completed courses I and II a according to GTÜM eV or similar training / knowledge in diving medicine, license to practice as a doctor (specialist nurse, intensive care respectively, several years of professional experience) valid pressure chamber fitness (G31) for participation in practical course components in the pressure chamber.

Course Content:

In-depth knowledge in the clinical application of hyperbaric oxygen therapy are taught, building on the basic knowledge of the completed courses I and II a (GTÜM eV). Particular attention will be paid to the treatment of patients requiring intensive care and mechanical ventilation. Also currently less recognized but promising indications are dealt with and discussed. The scope of the course goes far beyond the required curriculum in the GTÜM-content.

In the GTÜM the Course has been recognized with 16 UE as a refresher for diplomas I and II a.
