Burns Unit

The Burns Unit is one of the intensive care units under anaesthesiological control in cooperative collaboration with the Department of Plastic Surgery. Around 50 patients with severe burn injuries are admitted each year to the BGU Murnau. Six beds in separated single treatment rooms are available for this treatment

In order to meet strict hygienic requirements, the entire ward is isolated and can only be entered in surgical clothing with corresponding protective measures. The room temperature is correspondingly high, so that patients do not cool down through the lack of skin functions from severe burn injuries.

The treatment of burn injury patients is mentally and physically very demanding for doctors and nurses. The doctors, nurses and therapists in the Burns Unit are specially trained to comprehensively meet the high demands and the special needs of their patients.
