The Department of Hand Surgery at the BGU Murnau treats diseases, injuries, wear and tear, and malformations of the hands and forearms as well as rheumatoid changes and nerve compression syndromes.
BGU Murnau offers a versatile range of surgical procedures, such as the gentle, minimally invasive arthroscopy as well as complex replacement after amputation and reconstruction due to injury, along with extensive conservative treatment forms.
As part of the trans-regional trauma center and certified hand trauma center of FESSH (Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand) the care of severe hand injuries represents a key treatment of the Department. In addition to the victims of occupational accidents, of which 30-40% of cases relate to forearm and hands, the department is also passionate about looking after recreational and competitive athletes with their special needs for functional ability of the hands.
The hand surgeons work closely with all in-house departments, in particular the hand therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation physicians, psychologists, psychotherapists and anesthesia in order to achieve optimal treatment results.
