Oral and maxillofacial surgery

In severe accidents, head injuries also often occur. In particular, in the case of injuries of the skull, of the soft tissues or of the stomatognathic system insufficient or incorrect treatment can not only cause asymmetries of the face, but also permanent malfunction.

The employees of the Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at BG Clinic Murnau offer the full spectrum of maxillofacial and dentoalveolar surgery. The priorities are, in addition to injuries from accidents, surgical treatment of misaligned teeth (dysgnathic surgery), tumor surgery of the oral cavity and face/scalp, plastic reconstructive surgery of the head including microsurgical reconstructions, surgical treatment of lip, jaw and palate clefts as well as dental implantology.

More than 300 inpatients and 50 outpatients are cared for in the surgery center each year. There are 10 beds for this on the normal ward and additionally, as the necessity arises, intensive care beds are also available.

Patients with acute emergencies can also go directly to the interdisciplinary Central Emergency department. We have a close technical and scientific cooperation with the University of Jena, as well as with other national and international research groups and universities, in order to continuously optimize the treatment of our patients.
