Central sterile supply department
The task of the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) is the reprocessing of reusable medical devices for the entire hospital. In addition to the diverse instruments for the surgical department, there are numerous other medical products in circulation and in use on the wards and in specialised departments. Currently, an external clinic is also supplied by our CSSD.
Professionally, organizationally, structurally and technically, the highest standards are set in order to provide flawless and hygienically safe sterile products. A certified quality management system, reviewed annually by the TÜV Rheinland, is integrated in the CSSD, based on recommendations from relevant authorities and professional associations, as well as on legal requirements.
The CSSD is attached to the surgical department, which brings many advantages to the logistics processes making daily communication and collaboration much easier. The CSSD is divided into three work areas that are structurally separate from each other, thus fulfilling the hygiene requirements of this section:
- unclean area
- clean area/packing area
- sterile zone
